| Latest additions as of October 9th 2010 | BOSS GOODMAN PORTOBELLO SHUFFLE CD AND TESTIMONIAL PARTY David ‘The Boss’ Goodman was the Deviants and Pink Fairies erstwhile road manager and suffered a serious stroke four years ago. He was also a key figure within the London music scene for years and was a DJ and booking manager at Dingwalls Dancehall in Camden Lock from 1973 until the mid ’80s. He then moved to The Town and Country Club in Kentish Town. Up until he had the stroke Boss was working as head chef at the Portobello Gold and as a DJ at London’s legendary 100 Club. A Testimonial Party for Boss Goodman is also planned to coincide with the release of a CD at the Inn on the Green in London (also on 12th November), situated underneath the Westway between Ladbroke Grove and Portobello Road. The confirmed line-up so far includes a number of Ladbroke Grove legends and old friends of Boss, including, Mick Farren, Russell Hunter, Duncan ‘Sandy’ Sanderson, and Slim Tim Slide. Keith Richards’ sparring partners, The Dirty Strangers (he co-writes and appears on their most recent album) will play a set with John Sinclair (legendary US counterculture radical and former MC5 manager now turned beat poet). The country’s premier (and maybe only) Pink Fairies covers band, Pink FA featuring Nik Turner, as well as another original member of Hawkwind, Terry Ollis on drums, will put in an appearance too. Brian James, a founder member of The Damned, will also be playing a set and joined onstage for a few numbers by former Pink Fairies drummer and bassist Russell Hunter and Sandy. Proceeds from sales of both the CD and tickets for the planned live event go to Boss Goodman. |
